Thanks to everyone who came along to the Room 6 Trash or Treasure. Room 6 were very excited and did an amazing job sorting the toys and running the stalls, well done!

Tennis

We had a great time playing tennis today and are brushing up our skills ready for the summer.

Taonga Puoro

On Thursday we went to the museum to work with Cindy and Nicki on the Taonga Puoro exhibit. We looked at the Maori instruments and Cindy showed us how some of them are played. After that we made our own flute called a koauau. We use bamboo and sandpaper to smooth the edges.

Change, Change, Change

In room 6 our inquiry is all about changes which occur when we mix, heat or cool materials. Give this activity a try to see what you can find out.

We are having a great time with Jordan learning new soccer skills.

Investigations

We have had a fantastic time carrying out some investigations in class. Some of our predictions were correct and others were not!! We have been discussing our results with our class mates.

Soccer with Jordan on Pyjama Day

We spent the day in our pyjamas to raise money for the Cambodian orphange. We had soccer skills too so we had to play in our pyjamas!!!! We had a great time.

Suter Visit

We have had another trip to the Suter. Thanks to Jane for taking the class as I was sick that day. I know the children had a fantastic time and it is always great to have so many parent helpers.

writing instructions

We are learning to write instructions in room 6. We had a great time making jam sandwiches and now we will be writing instructions on how to make them!

Term 3 in room 6

We have been so busy in room 6 that we haven't had time to up date our blog. This week we have our last session with Harold in the Life Education Bus and have learnt a lot from him and Victoria. We hope to see him again soon.

Investigating in room 6

We have been learning about circuits in room 6. Here we are investigating how to make a bulb light up. We then went on to investigate what would happen if we added more bulbs.

Matariki Shared Kai

Well, what a wonderful lunch we had. Our waiata sounded wonderful! Well done
We then showed our buddies how to play string games, didn't they do well.

Museum Visit

Here we are at the museum in Nelson. We have been learning to play traditional Maori games. Thanks to Nicki and Cindy for helping us. We really enjoyed the session and have been playing some of the games as part of our Matariki celebration week.
